March 4th, 2017 - Vietnam Tour

Started the day with a three hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City to start our
tour of "the Mighty Mekong", enjoying the sights along the way. Stopped at a
lovely "tourist" rest stop and walked through the gardens there before
continuing our drive. Got back on the road and headed to meet up with the
Cai Be Princess, a traditional sampan - except for our somewhat luxurious
seating and service on board (I felt like the Queen of the Nile).

Made a stop at some local places where we got to see how they made rice
paste, rice popcorn, coconut candy and dried longans, even got to do some
sampling. Our day also included a stop at Mr. Kiet's Historical House and
gardens.

Enjoyed a very traditional (new foods) at Le Longanier in an Indochinese
villa located on the river.

Continued on down the Mekong awhile and then joined the hustle and bustle of
the Vietnam motorbike traffic to make our way to the hotel. Road signs and
lanes here are just for decoration, and one has to be brave to walk across
the road.
