On board were some friends of mine - Jeff from Virginia, whom I met in
college and Allan and Sandra from Denver. They are on a world cruise that
began January 6th and will be sailing until April 28th when they will arrive
back in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
They boarded the ferry in Papeete and arrived in Vaiarie, Moorea about 9:30
this morning (it is about a 30 minute ride).
After saying our hellos we were off for a tour of the island, stopping for
beverages along the way. Sandra and Allan discovered they may have found a
new favorite, they really liked the local Tahitian beer - Hinano.
We headed back to the house I have rented and walked down the driveway to my
favorite restaurant "Le Sud" where we enjoyed a lovely meal of Polynesian
Plates and Four Cheese French pizza, then it was back to the house for a dip
in the pool and more conversation.
They headed back to Papeete on the ferry this afternoon to re-board their
ship. As I write this, the winds have come up and it is raining pretty hard
- I hope they made it back to the ship before the storm hit. They will be
leaving this evening for Pago Pago, American Samoa, their next port.
It was a lovely day spent with wonderful people and I wish them safe travels
for the remainder of their journey.
