April 10th and 11th - Muscat, Oman

There is something about the craggy hills that seem to rise out of the sea
that I find beautiful.

I saw some new scenery this visit and visited Old Town.

Also enjoyed some beach time and a wonderful dinner at the Shangri-La Barr
Al Jissah Resort. You know how tiring it can be sailing on a ship, where
your every wish is taken care of, one needs a break from time to time!

There is so much construction and road building going on in Muscat and the
surrounding area. I saw where they are building the new container/commercial
port, and the plans are for the current port to become a cruise port with a
new hotel to make the area more desirable for tourists. My cab driver told
me that before the current Sultan took over the land in the 70s, it was
impossible to find work at home and one had to travel to Dubai or further.

You could tell that he was very happy with the direction of his country.
