Arrived this morning to Flam, after an all-night journey through one of the
deepest fjords in the world. This little town in the Aurlandsfjord region
looks like it jumped out of a picture postcard.
Boarded the Flamsbana train for a spectacular journey. It takes about fifty
minutes for the twelve mile ride to Myrdal Station, because it has to climb
from sea level to 2,844, feet twisting its way across the hills and through
twenty hand dug tunnels.
At the end of the line, I spent some time at the Stalheim Hotel before
heading back down to Flam. I decided that next time I am here I want to take
the earliest train up and hike down the mountain on one of the paths that
winds around the beautiful scenery and waterfalls.
Great stop for my first time in Norway!
