July Road Trip - 7-21-14

Upon entering Utah, I was welcomed at the "Thompson Welcome Center" - do you
think they were waiting for me?

First up was Arches National Park with the world's largest concentration of
natural sandstone arches. This is a very popular park, with a large number
of visitors. The drive up into the park is stunning.

This was my first test, hiking in the hot and cloudless sky. I was not sure
I could make it up the long (and steep) climb up to Delicate Arch - but
after some pushing and threats, I made it! I have to admit, that on the
climb down, back to the car, I was like a horse heading back to the barn.

After completing this climb, there were no more thoughts of turning back on
any more hikes. Even though this did not end up being my longest, this was
the most challenging for me.

Spent a long, but wonderful day here before heading back to Moab.

July Road Trip - 7-20-14

This trip was to be all about exploring the parks in Utah.

Somehow, I had never visited "Colorado National Monument", just west of
Grand Junction, so that was the first stop. This gem was an amazing and
beautiful place.

A great way to start off on the trip to our next door neighbor - Utah!
