and Rhode Island.
First stop was the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Established in 1903 it is the
largest whaling museum in the world. It had a skeleton of a 66 foot blue
whale, one of only three in view anywhere.
The highlight was the 89 foot half-scale model of the 1826 whaling ship The
Lagoda, which is also the world's largest ship model.
Then we arrived in Newport and drove the scenic 12 mile ocean drive up to
the Inn at Castle Hill. The views were outstanding.
Came back and checked in to the Jailhouse Inn, "Captivating Guests since
1772", up until 1980 this was operated as a jail.
Finished off the evening with a lovely meal at the Black Pearl.
