Arrived in Rishkesh late in the evening. The journey started at 3:30 AM to get through immigration in Singapore and make our way to the airport.
The first flight to Delhi went smoothly. The flight was on the new Dreamliner, got upgraded to first class and slept almost the entire 5 ½ hour flight.
The second flight did not go as well. The flight to Dehradun boarded on time, then sat on the tarmac for over an hour before taking off (this plane was no Dreamliner, but a very tired looking two engine prop). Reached our destination and circled for a while trying to wait out the thunder and lightning storm while they decided if we could land, or if we would have to return to Delhi. Finally, the pilot came on and said they decided to land, it was going to be rough, so hang on and enjoy the ride. Made it down safely, probably due to the many on board praying. The passengers cheered when we finally touched ground.
Met the guide and head to the hotel in Rishkesh.
So very tired – slept great!
