What a difference a day makes. Yesterday the sky was darker than the sea and
today the sun boldly announced its' presence. The sidewalks were crowded,
not with tourists, but with the locals sitting outside at the sidewalk
cafes. Everyone was enjoying one of the few real summer days this season and
what also might be the last.
Today I headed over to Drottningholm Palace and Gardens, the first UNESCO
World Heritage site in Sweden and home to the Royal Family since 1981.
The guide was so knowledgeable and provided so much information about the
palace and its history that I was sure there was going to be a test at the
end - if my score was not good enough I would not be allowed to exit!
As I headed over to the lake, above me, thousands of geese appeared, honking
their way south for the winter.
A great day that got even better as we sailed away through the islands.
And, not yet done, the sun provided a fabulous evening show as it said
goodbye for the evening.
