September 9th - Bergen, Norway

The weather today was outstanding - even the locals were amazed. Sunny all
day with temperatures in the 70s.

The sail into Bergen this morning was spectacular - saw my first - of what I
am sure - will be many oil rigs.

Headed out first thing this morning for Os and boarded a ferry to cross
Fusafjord. The views of all the islands and snow-capped mountains were
breathtaking.

Upon arrival on the other side of the fjord, drove through many small
communities and caught numerous reflections of the mountains and lovely
towns in the mountain lakes.

Stopped at Holdhus to see a tiny wooden stave church. Learned why at
weddings the bride's family sits on the left, and the groom's family on the
right. It all started with the women sitting on the left side of the church
and the men sitting on the right - the women, being the stronger, and wiser,
were protecting the weak men from the devil and evil spirits.

Drove along the shores of Haardangerfjord, called the "Queen of the Fjords"
by the Norwegians. Along the way, the skies were so clear, one could see the
Folgefonna Glacier, the third largest glacier in Norway.

The last stop before heading back to Bergen via the Tokagiel Gorge and the
Kvanskogen mountain plateau, was at the Steinsdal Falls. The falls are
massive, and one can walk under them without getting wet.

Great day, took way too many photos. I finally had to just put the camera
down and stop before I sprained a finger!
