October 7th - Fukuoka, Japan Part 1

Got up early to catch the "Japan" sunrise - my first since arriving in
Japan. Hopefully the rain and cloudy skies are a thing of the past.

As soon as the ship was cleared it was time to head out. The first stop was
Nishi Park where I met a gentleman who asked where I was from. When I told
him I was from Colorado, he asked if I was from Denver and I said yes, and I
asked if he had been there. He said many times, that he had been a grain
dealer and had traveled to Denver and Colorado Springs many times when
dealing with the farmers - such a small world.

Then headed over to Fukuoka Tower to take in the views of the city. The
tower is 234 meters and the highest seaside tower in Japan.

The rest of the day included visits to: Tochoji Temple, Shofukuji Zen
Temple, Jotenji Temple, Gokoku Shrine, Ohori Park, Ohori Park Japanese
Garden, and the Fukuoka Castle Ruins.

Fukuoka is known for the best Ramen soup in Japan, they even have a monument
for the noodles!

The man in the photo on the bus is "Larry" who was celebrating his birthday
today, and since we are a day ahead of the states, will celebrate again
tomorrow.

Amazing day that included bus rides, subway rides and 10+ miles on foot. The
people here were so friendly and helpful.
