The first order of business was to take a trip down memory lane and visit
the home we lived in while my Dad was in law school at George Washington
University. I was able to locate the address from my sister's Eve's birth
certificate. I am sure things have changed since the 50s, but it seemed so
much larger in my memory. It was very exciting.
Then I headed out to see the sights in Washington DC. My time here was very
limited, so the first place we visited was the most important to me, the
Vietnam Memorial, which was very emotional.
This city is so amazing and it really is just as magnificent as any European
city with all the government buildings and monuments - it makes me proud.
Next up was a visit to see where Secretary of State Hilary Clinton lives -
unfortunately, either because she was on her way home at the time, or
because Bill was in residence, we were very quickly persuaded to leave by
all the secret service.
Had lunch at Martin's in Georgetown, and was able to actually sit and dine
in the booth where legend has it that John Kennedy proposed to Jackie. The
food and staff were great.
Ended the visit in Georgetown watching the planes come into Reagan Airport
and enjoying the views and sundown.
