I got off the ship and headed out to view the Corinth Canal, which at four
miles long, connects the Ionian and Aegean Seas.
The next stop was to visit the ancient ruins in Corinth, with some dated as
far back as the 6th century BC. The setting today was especially
magnificent since the grounds were covered with bright spring wildflowers. I
know there will red poppies in my flower beds this year.
I learned that the reason so many statues do not have heads is because they
were constructed in two parts. When a person was no longer in favor, instead
of destroying the statue and making a new one, they simply replaced the head
with a likeness of the new "honored person."
Upon return Farid was a one-man welcoming committee with his ever smiling
face!
