February 23rd - Island Life

Just could not resist including photos of last night's spectacular sky.
These beautiful skies seem to be the norm, instead of the exception here. A
free show every night!

I was given more gifts! The lovely Tahitian hat made from live plants. At
the place I am staying there are several that have been allowed to dry and
are used as decorations.

And, the lei made with the Tiare (Tahitian Gardenia), is an endemic flower
and Tahiti's emblem, symbolizing beauty and purity. It is also used in the
production of Manoi, which is obtained by macerating the blossoms in refined
coconut oil. Manoi is used in beauty care products as well a sacred oil used
in many rituals and ceremonies.

And more gigantic avocados - I have been told it is avocado season here. The
ones at home will never taste as good again.

Hat, lei and next a pareo and I will blend right in with the Tahitians (or
look very much like a tourist).
