My oldest son, John dropped me off at the airport this morning for an early
flight to Seattle.
Upon arrival to Seattle I checked into my hotel then met up with some
friends to spend the day with.
First stop was a visit to the Pike Place Market. Boy has this place changed
since my first visit about 20 years ago! The place was bustling with
activity and tourists.
Walked over to "Chinatown" which Trip Advisor should be ashamed for
recommending - if not for the empty park and some of the business names, one
would not have known they were in the right place.
Next stop was out to take a helicopter tour of the city and surrounding
countryside. The timing was perfect with beautiful sunny skies one could
even see the different mountain ranges in the distance. Also got to fly over
the Seahawks stadium, where hopefully the Denver Broncos will be triumphant
in Sunday's game.
Time to come back down to earth - sort of - and visit Space Needle and
Chihuly Exhibit. The Chihuly artwork set amid the beautiful Denver Botanical
Gardens is a much nicer way to display these amazing glass sculptures - if
you get to Denver, be sure not to miss it.
From the Space Needle I got to watch as the Westerdam was sailing out of
port. Sunday I will be heading out of the same port on the Amsterdam to
start my big adventure!
