March 28th - Singapore

First stop was to the top of the tallest hill in Singapore - a little over
300 meters - and enjoy the views.

It is always amazing when entering this port to see all the ships. At any
given time there are between 600 and 800 ships waiting to come into port.
This port is so efficient that a ship can come in and unload, reload,
fuel-up, do maintenance and be back out to sea in less than six hours. It is
no wonder that this is the second busiest port in the world.

Next stop was the National Orchid Garden, the world's largest display of
tropical orchids. There are orchids everywhere, and they appear to grow like
weeds here. I loved the whiffs of the rich dirt they were planted in while
strolling the park.

Along the way to the Orchid Garden we drove through a single family
residential area (really estates). In Singapore only 10% of the population
lives in single family dwellings, with the remainder living in hi-rise
apartments.

Before heading back to the ship I also made a stop at Arab Street and
Chinatown to take in the sights and do a little shopping.

I will be saying goodbye to Singapore this evening as the ship starts the
journey back North. I look forward to returning someday, I have so enjoyed
exploring and touring this wonderful city.
