March 15th, 2017 - Ranthambhore, India

Another early morning - there seem to be a lot of them on this trip.

Had a morning and afternoon jeep safari to search for tigers at Ranthambhore
National Park, once a reserve of the royal families of Jaipur and Karauli.
Saw lots of beautiful scenery and tiger food - but, alas, no tigers.

After a quick lunch (between safaris) I also visited Ranthambhore Fort, a
10th century military fort. It was a long and hot climb up, but I made it -
every time you turned the corner there was another set of stairs to climb
(there was a kilometer of stairs). There were lots of families out enjoying
the park and celebrating the fact that the current wheat crop had been
harvested.

The women really work hard - it does not appear that the men have the same
work ethic as the women here. You see the women working in the fields and
in the homes while the men are sitting around reading their papers, talking
with other men and sipping their tea. I think the easy days for the men will
come to an end soon as these women learn more about the rest of the world.

Planned a more leisurely morning for tomorrow with a civilized wake up time
to rest up for the next leg of the journey in this amazing place that though
appears chaotic, seems to work!
