April 8th - Alligator Farm

On the journey North stopped at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm and
Zoological Park. I always love visiting this place. They take good care of
the critters and there are so many alligators. Got to see babies and an
albino alligator. In addition, this is home to Maximo - a 15+ foot, 1,250
pound saltwater crocodile hatched out of Australia. He shares his pool with
his wife Sophie, who is not even half his size. I overheard one of the
children asking their parents how they got married. Across the hall - safely
away from their cannibalistic parents were a couple of the surviving
children - the "minimos". The albino alligator was from Louisiana, and has
to be careful not to get sunburned. In addition to the rats that were thrown
to the gators at feeding time, the caretakers were throwing baby chicks -
quite a sight to watch the audience if they are not prepared for this!
