It was four hours from the time we picked up the pilot before we finally
arrived in Stockholm. The scenery was breathtaking. As we traveled through
the Baltic Sea.
Visited the Blue Hall (which is red, not blue) in the City Hall. This is
where the Nobel Prize festivities are held each year.
Toured the Royal Palace - did not go into all 608 rooms, but did see the
state apartments, banquet and ballrooms, and where the King has his meetings
with his advisors. Was surprised to see the Kansas Coat of Arms displayed
here!
Also visited the Vasa Museum, which houses the warship Vasa. The warship
sank in Stockholm's inner harbor on her maiden voyage in 1628. The ship's
remains were discovered in 1956 and salvaged and restored, piece by piece.
Explored in and around the city enjoying the beautiful weather, with a stop
in their "old Town".
