I set the alarm for 6:15 to watch the beginning of the transit from the Red
Sea to the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal. This was supposed to begin
at 7AM - when I awoke we were already on our way.
The trip going down the canal in January was almost 24 hours and started in
the dark and ended in the dark, with most of our daylight time spent in a
holding area.
This trip heading North we were in the Mediterranean by 3PM and never had to
make a stop. The ship in front of us appeared to be a military ship, maybe
this had something to do with our smooth and quick transit. Following us
was another cruise ship, a car carrier and then a container ship.
Great views of Egypt as we sailed through the canal.
