Holyhead, Wales, UK

Another wet, gray day. The ship is docked in Holyhead, on the windswept coast of North Wales. This was once considered the gateway to Ireland and is now a major ferry port. As we enter the port, one sees the 200+ year old South Stack Lighthouse.

We took a scenic drive into Anglesey to visit the Goal and Courthouse. The goal was opened in 1829, not what I would call a local inn or B & B. The Old Court, across from Beaumaris Castle was built in 1614 and is one of the oldest remaining courthouses in Wales. Here we sat through a mock trial. I would say that if you were brought to trial, you were most likely found guilty, especially if one was poor.

Since it was still raining it was off to a cozy shop to have a cup of tea and wait for our ride back to. the ship.
