August 22nd - Stavanger, Norway

Headed down through the fjords last evening toward our next destination -
Stavanger, Norway. This is the fourth largest city in Norway and considered
to be the oil capital of Norway.

Upon arrival this morning I boarded a boat for a scenic cruise of Lysefjord,
a 26 mile long fjord formed by glaciers during the ice ages. The sights
included a view of Pulpit Rock, standing over 1500 feet above the sea.

Got back to the city and spent the afternoon wandering the winding,
cobblestone streets of Old Town with its charming 18th century white houses
(173 remain). It seems the residents here are all competing to have the
prettiest flowers and gardens - as lovely as any botanical garden I have
visited.
