Headed out to Zion National Park at the break of dawn to catch the sun
rising at Canyon Overlook Trail. This trail is 1,000 feet above the Zion
Canyon Floor. We were not alone. There were the usual suspects with all
their camera gear, hoping for a great shot. I am sure they were disappointed
with the clouds instead of a clear blue sky - but that is what the day
brought.
This park is very crowded - so much so, that one cannot drive their own
vehicle, but must ride the shuttles from point to point. Still managed to
make it to all of the stops and get in a few mid-day hikes.
Ended the day with a long and steep hike with amazing views (this trail was
not crowded). The only concern was the rain and threat of lightning. I can
dry off the from the rain, but I have yet to master the art of deflecting
lightning bolts!
Great day - clocked more than 12 miles.
