Headed to Dead Horse State Park along the scenic Dead Horse Mesa Byway early
to capture the morning sun glowing on the sculpted pinnacles and buttes.
This is supposed to be one of the most photographed vistas in the world. I
was not disappointed - the lighting and colors were amazing.
"The legend of Dead Horse Point states that around the run of the century
the point was used as a corral for wild mustangs roaming the mesa top. One
time, for some unknown reason, the horses were left corralled on the
waterless point where they died within view of the Colorado River 2,000 feet
below."
The spectacular canyon scene in the movie Thelma and Louise was filmed at
Dead Horse Point in the Park.
