The sail into Hillsborough Bay as we entered Charlottetown Harbor was
magnificent with the morning sunrise as a backdrop.
Got right off the ship for an all day tour weaving through the downtown area
to view the historic buildings. Then we were off to the countryside via the
South Shore to Victoria-by-the Sea.
We made a stop in Borden to view the world's longest bridge over frozen
water (9 miles long), the Confederation Bridge which was opened in 1997 and
links the island to the mainland.
We stopped in Rustica for a delicious lobster roll lunch.
And, of course, what visit to Prince Edward Island would be complete without
a visit to Green Gables House - having somehow missed these books as a
child, I found it difficult to "get into" the replica buildings here, but
did enjoy the lovely gardens.
On the way back to the ship we made a stop at the COWS ice cream factory and
store - it was the best ice cream - so rich, that the small sample was more
than enough (Tauck's ranks this as the number one ice cream in the world).
Came back to the ship and stood watch to see our passing under the
Confederation Bridge as we headed out to sea.
Beautiful blog today
